Point Five: The Observer

Basic Proposition:  Protection from intrusion and insufficient resources is assured through privacy, self-sufficiency, limiting wants and desires and acquiring knowledge.  Attention naturally goes to blocking intrusion and detaching to observe.

  • Marked need for privacy
  • Attention goes to observing rather than participating
  • Intellectualizes
  • Detached from feelings
  • Limits intrusion from a world that wants too much
  • Minimalist. Reduces needs; limits desires
  • Selfsufficient
  • Hoards time, space, energy, knowledge
  • Compartmentalizes
